Tracking a large low pressure system visiting for Christmas

TODAY: Saturday is a warm, but cloudy day, with patchy drizzle possible through the day. This will come from a low deck of clouds. This layer of cloud cover will bring us cloudy skies for most of the day, but some breaks in the clouds is likely at times. If we can see clouds clear sufficiently, we'll reach low 60s. If not, we'll likely see temperatures confined to the 50s. Either way, its an unseasonably warm day.

TONIGHT: These low clouds never truly clear, and we'll stay cloudy and warm tonight, with continued south winds. Temperatures only fall into the low 50s.

EXTENDED: Sunday, Christmas eve, will start cloudy but mostly dry. A few showers are possible during the morning hours on Christmas eve, but likely, rain holds off until the afternoon. Widespread rain moves in by the dinner hour, Sunday, leaving us with wet weather overnight and into Christmas morning. Rain chances during this period are near 100%. Rain will begin to taper into Monday midday, leaving us drier by Christmas afternoon. We may begin to see a "dry slot work in behind the rain, with drier weather and potentially even sunshine late Monday into the overnight hours. However, clearing is uncertain, as we'll see low clouds from the back side of the low, wrapping around quickly on the heals of the exiting rain and clouds. This second round of clouds may also produce precipitation on Tuesday and Wednesday. We'll be in the 50s at least through Christmas morning, but as we progress to the back side of the low overnight into Tuesday, temperatures will plummet, possibly leaving us in the 30s on Tuesday. With the influx of cold air, we could see flurries falling from clouds on Tuesday. Depending on how long moisture lingers, we could see flurries on Wednesday as well. Generally, we'll stay cool, and trend drier Thursday and Friday.
