Tracking daily rain chances through the weekend and a frigid start to next week

TODAY: Scattered showers and storms continue this morning, with those in the northwest having the best chance at rain, and those in the southeast, near Maries and Gasconade counties seeing more peeks of sunshine. Expect highs in the low 70s under rainfall, and where we see more sun, expect highs in the upper 70s.

TONIGHT: Some dry time returns this evening, however some will see showers linger into the afternoon and early evening. Temperatures stay warm as clouds are stubborn and winds remain from the south. We'll start Thursday in the 60s.

EXTENDED: Thursday brings another round of rain by mid-to-late morning. Temperatures here are likely in the low 70s. Then, after some clearing, temperatures will rebound on Friday morning ahead of a cold front moving from northwest to southeast. Timing of the cold front is crucial to temperatures here, but some could reach upper 70s to near 80 in the southwest. If timing is early enough, we may keep temperatures in the low 70s. Currently the forecast is to reach mid-70s by midday when the front sweeps through. This will likely drive a chance for storms, with potential for an isolated strong storm in the southeast where the warmest temperatures lie. A sharp cool down will follow over the weekend, but moisture lingers behind the front. Expect showers at times and highs in the 50s Saturday and Sunday. Then, as surface high pressure works in Monday, we should drop to near, if not below, freezing to start the day. After a high in the 40s Monday, we may start even cooler Tuesday morning. This may be our first widespread frost, but maybe just as likely is a widespread hard freeze.
