Walk to Defeat ALS held Saturday morning at Cosmo-Bethel Park

COLUMBIA Mo (KMIZ)

Saturday morning, people will gather in Cosmo-Bethel park to walk for a cure for ALS. Several teams have raised money for the cause.

Money raised today will go towards local care service programs, global ALS research, and nationwide advocacy.

Anyone is able to participate in Saturday's walk - the walk is wheelchair accessible. There isn't a fee to register, but a donation is strongly encouraged. Registration for the walk begins at 8 a.m. and the walk begins at 9 a.m.

ALS is an always fatal neurogenative disease where a person's brain looses connection with the muscles. Every 90 minutes someone is diagnosed with or passes away from the disease. $2 billion is the estimated cost that would slow or stop the progression of ALS.

The ALS Association is still accepting donations, if you would like to donate you can visit their website.
