Rep. Crystal Quade announces 2024 run for Missouri governor

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

House Minority Leader Crystal Quade announced her run to be the next governor of Missouri early Sunday morning.

If elected, the 37-year-old of Springfield would become the first female governor of the state.

Quade is the first Democrat to enter the race and joins republicans Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe and Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft.

Quade says, if she's elected to plans to restore abortion rights and protect Missouri's family farms by proposing a ban on China and Russia from owning Missouri farmland.

The Missouri native was first elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in November of 2016. Where she has served seven years.

Quade is launching her campaign Monday at an event in Springfield.

Gov. Mike Parson will not be running for re-election due to term limits..
