MSHP cancels Amber Alert for missing 9-year-old girl

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Missouri State Highway Patrol canceled an Amber Alert issued on Friday morning for a missing 9-year-old girl. Just before 7:30 a.m. troopers tweeted out the child was found safe in Illinois and a suspect is in custody.

MSHP issued the alert a little after 7 a.m. for Violet Charlton who was last seen on River City Dr. in St. Louis at 4:43 a.m.

Authorities say Violet was wearing a teal t-shirt and pink shorts, has blonde hair and blue eyes. The alert also says she weighs 99 pounds and stands at 4'11".

Authorities say Violet was last seen with 31-year-old Ryan Charlton who was wearing black and gray athletic shorts. Authorities say Ryan is driving a 2006 black Dodge Charger with an Illinois license plate with the number DW62016.

Anyone with information is directed to contact 9-1-1 or the Saint Clair Illinois Sheriff's Office.
