2nd Missouri man sentenced in death of woman who was caged, dismembered

KMIZ

BUFFALO, Mo. (AP) — One of two Missouri men charged in the death of a woman who was kept in a cage and later dismembered has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree murder. Timothy Norton entered his plea Tuesday in the 2021 death of Cassidy Rainwater. His co-defendant, James Phelps, entered an Alford plea in the same case earlier this year and was also sentenced to life in sentence. Authorities say the two men kidnapped Rainwater, whose remains were found near Phelps’ home near Lebanon, Missouri. They were arrested after authorities saw photos of Rainwater in a cage. Other photos showed Rainwater’s body had been disemboweled and dismembered.
