One person dead following crash in Miller County

MILLER COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ.)

An Illinois man is dead after MSHP says he traveled off the road and hit the entrance of a driveway on Highway 42 in Miller County on Tuesday.

The crash happened on the Westbound Ln. near Castle Rd. at 5:00 p.m.

Troopers say the driver James Gillispie, 76, of Belleview overturned his 2016 Harley Davidson after striking a driveway entrance. Both Gillispie and passenger Mary Gillispie, 68, were ejected from the motorcycle.

Mary Gillispie was flown by University Hospital in serious condition. James was taken to Lake Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Troopers say both people were wearing helmets during the time of the crash.

MSHP Troop F has reported four fatalities in the month of May and 20 fatalities so far in 2023.
