COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia police said Tuesday that they've arrested two people in connection with a shooting outside a gas station in the Conley Road area.

Officers arrested Royelle D. Hunt, 34, and Kentrail D. Taylor, 27, both of Columbia, in connection with the incident, according to a Columbia Police Department news release.

Hunt was arrested on suspicion of unlawful use of a weapon, illegal gun possession and evidence tampering, police say.

Taylor was charged Tuesday with three counts of first-degree assault, four counts of armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, property damage and child endangerment. No hearings had been set in his case by late Tuesday afternoon.

The two were arrested in connection with a shooting Monday outside a Hy-Vee gas station in the 2600 block of Trimble Road in east Columbia. Two shooters left in separate vehicles afterward, police said in the release.

A man and woman had sought treatment for gunshot wounds, police said, and the man was later identified as Hunt. Police found Taylor and arrested him Monday in the 2600 block of Eastwood Drive. The shooting was the result of a "conflict" between the two men, who knew each other, police said.

Taylor was in the Boone County Jail on Tuesday without bond. Hunt was released after posting bond, according to online jail records.

Charges against Hunt had not been filed Tuesday afternoon.
