Boone County prosecutors have charged a Columbia woman with a felony after her infant allegedly overdosed.

Jessina Pedroza, 29, is charged with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child. She is being held without bond at the Boone County Jail. An arraignment was held Thursday at the Boone County Courthouse. Boone County Jail online records say her next court date for that charge is Tuesday, May 9.

Court documents say Pedroza brought her son into the hospital after he was not breathing and unresponsive in December.

The child was resuscitated after he was given Narcan. A blood test allegedly found fentanyl and painkillers in his system, according to the probable cause statement.

Pedroza allegedly told police she did not have any controlled substances in her home.

Court documents say police found cocaine near a medical syringe that's used for babies.

The probable cause statement says Pedroza's live-in boyfriend is an alleged fentanyl dealer.
