Services for Independent Living in Columbia in need of medical equipment donations

Avery Roehler

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Services for Independent Living in Columbia provides help for people with disabilities, elderly and veterans in Columbia live more independent lives.

Its Durable Medical Equipment program takes donations of medical equipment, tests and refurbishes it, and gives it to those in need for free.

Some of their most requested items include knee scooters, shower chairs, bedside commodes, and wheelchairs.

"Our biggest need right now is that we have more requests for equipment than we have to give out," Executive Director Patrick Lee said.

Those who either need its services or wish to donate can stop by its facility located at 1401 Hathman Place in Columbia or you can visit its website.
