Breakthru Beverage Missouri to offer free rides to people for St. Patricks Day

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

If you're considering heading out for St. Patrick's Day Friday, and don't have a ride back home, Breakthru Beverage Missouri and Jameson Irish Whiskey, have teamed up to ensure you make it home safe.

The companies will cover 2,000 rides (up to a $30 value) for people in St. Louis, Kansas City, Columbia, and Springfield areas from 2:00 p.m. Friday until 2:00 a.m. Saturday.

To redeem the ride, open your Lyft app and use the code BBGSTPAT23.

The rides are offered through Safe Home After Every Occasion, a social responsibility program designed to make planning a safe ride home before a night out a habit.

According to Breakthru Beverage, since the start of the Safe Home After Every Occasion in 2011, it has provided more than 100,000 Missourians a free ride home.

According to a 2022 article from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, during the 2020 St. Patrick’s Day period (6:00 p.m. March 16. to 5:59 a.m. March 18.), 36% of crash fatalities involved a drunk driver.

Local law enforcement plans to have extra officers out on the roads to watch out for drunk drivers.
The highway patrol will be doing DWI checks in Boone, Camden, and Miller counties over the holiday weekend, while Jefferson City Police plan to up DWI patrols as well.
