KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Kansas City Sports Commission and Foundation has begun preparations for the Kansas City Chiefs' victory parade and rally being held on Wednesday.

This comes as the Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 in the Super Bowl on Sunday.

The two-mile-long parade starts at noon and will begin on Grand Boulevard at 6th street. The parade will then head south on Grand Boulevard to Pershing Road and turn west on Pershing Road coming to an end at Union Station.

The victory celebration will begin at 1:45 p.m. outside the front entrance of Union Station.

"Kansas City truly is a championship city," Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas said. "We are proud of the fact that we get to celebrate not just the Chiefs, but so much progress in our community."

Officials will be closing the street for the parade route down at 2 p.m. Tuesday, and will not reopen it until 7 p.m. Wednesday

In order to ensure those at the parade are safe, hundreds of police officers will be present throughout the entirety of the parade.

Nineteen local, state and federal law enforcement agencies will join together alongside the Kansas City Police Department to patrol the parade and rally.

The Chief of the Kansas City Police Department Stacy Graves said it will not deter police officers from being able to monitor the rest of the city.

"Our patrol divisions will also be staffed and ready to respond to calls for service citywide," Graves said.

There will be a variety of options available for parking, as well as a transportation service to the parade route in order to cut down on some of the back-up from traffic, including the Kansas City Zoo, Worlds of Fun and Hy-Vee Arena, according to Chuck Ferguson, who is the chief operations officer of the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority.

The event is labeled as "family friendly," and drinking alcohol will not be permitted along the parade route. There will be an option for fans to acquire free Bud Lights from licensed vendors during the parade.
