JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Missouri House lawmakers have voted against banning children from openly carrying firearms on public land without adult supervision. The Republican-led House on Wednesday voted down a Democratic amendment that would have done so. The proposal is part of a lengthy debate on how to fight crime. A Republican initially sponsored a bill that would have prevented children from carrying guns openly. But the provision was stripped from the measure during a committee hearing. A Democrat failed to revive the idea Wednesday.
