Mix of rain, sleet and snow hits Columbia

Three different weather events cycled across parts of Missouri Saturday: rain, sleet and snow.

Columbia Public Works said it plans on having nine workers treat any potential problems on roads starting at 8 p.m.

Caught in the mix, two girls walking in downtown Columbia, trying to keep as dry as possible. Oh, “the joys of Missouri weather,” they said.

“I can't even think right now because I'm so cold,” Lillianne Powell said. “But it's going to kill us because we literally just had freaking negative degree weather and then it was like 50-60 degrees last week. Now it's sleeting and was just sunny out this morning.”

While it was snowing in part of Columbia, it was raining in the other.

“So we did not come prepared,” Sophia Powell added. “This weather is bipolar. It was sunny out earlier and now… we're shivering.”

Still, they weren’t alone. Up and down the sidewalks, residents wearing hats, coats and lugging around umbrellas- trying to prepare for mismatched weather.

“So cold I can see my breath,” Lillianne said.
