Rock Bridge-Hazelwood Central game keeps same start time amid Weather Alert Day

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

High schools across Mid-Missouri have moved up the kickoff of tonight's games amid the possibilities of severe storms.

The ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Team has issued a Weather Alert day for Friday. The cold front is expected to bring strong winds, rain and hail.

The storm is expected to reach Columbia before 7 p.m.

Despite the possibility for a severe storm, Rock Bridge and Hazelwood Central will continue to start their game start at 7 p.m.

The Missouri State High School Activities Association's Lightning and Heat Safety Information states:

enough to strike your location with lightning. Suspend play and take shelter immediately.
• 30-Minute Rule: Once play has been suspended, wait at least 30 minutes after the last
thunder is heard or flash of lightning is witnessed prior to resuming play.
• If there is thunder or lightning after the beginning of the 30-minute count, the clock should be
reset, and another 30-minute count should begin.
• Hold periodic reviews for appropriate personnel.

If postponed, both team's will likely reschedule the remainder of the game.
