Spring Columbia City Council election petitions available, first day to file is Oct. 25

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Residents who wish to run for City Council in April for Wards 1 and 5 must file a petition for office with the City Clerk’s Office.

Petitions, along with instructions, are available to be picked up from the City Clerk’s Office from 8 a.m.-noon and from 1-5 p.m., excluding weekends and holidays. 

Candidates must be qualified voters and residents of the ward they are wanting to represent an hold no lucrative public office or any lucrative position in the city government. Candidates must obtain at least 50 signatures from residents who live in and are registered voters of the same ward. 

Candidates may file for election beginning at 8 a.m. Oct. 25, 2022; the deadline to file is Jan. 10, 2023, no later than 5 p.m.

Election Day is April 4, 2023. Maps of the Wards can be found on the city's website.
