WARSAW, Mo. (KMIZ)
Two separate federal complaints were filed today after FBI agents were shot at in the 30000 block of Highway 65 in Warsaw on Friday morning.
Bryan C. Perry, 37, of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Jonathan S. O’Dell, 32, of Warsaw were charged. Perry was charged with transmitting a threat across state lines to injure another person, being a felon in possession of a firearm and forcibly assaulting an FBI agent with a deadly weapon.
O’Dell is charged with transmitting a threat across state lines to injure another person and unlawfully possessing a firearm. The FBI executed a search warrant at O'Dell's residence and arrested both men.
According to the affidavit, the FBI received an anonymous tip in September that a TikTok account called @trashpanda1774 -- eventually identified as Perry -- posted a video about conducting a violent attack against the United States Government, and starting a war against the government. The account is currently listed as "private" on the website.
“I am probably the only one right now that is ready to go to war against this government and I don’t mean just talk about it I mean grab my rifle and go to DC and take this country back physically, not sit in a basement and talk about it,” Perry said in the video.
In other videos, Perry allegedly accused the U.S. Border Patrol of committing treason and wanted to recruit members to his "group" and made threats to "take the country back," among other things.
The FBI alleges Perry moved in with O'Dell after he made a post saying "MO is now home."
On Sept. 25, a TikTok account run by O'Dell, he indicated wanting to leave for Texas in October.
On Oct. 2 and 3, Perry made multiple posts about "going hunting" on Oct. 8, and went on to say his "group" was going to Texas with "full kits." The FBI indicated that means "wearable vest carriers that better enable shooters to carry extra gear including body armor, spare ammunition, and radios."
“We’re not going down there to protest," Perry was cited as saying. "We’re not going down there to, uh, just be a presence. No, we are going down there and we’re taking this country back.”
On Oct. 3, Perry allegedly had a conversation with an FBI Confidential Human Source.
"We’re not gonna allow people to come across our border, especially with uranium.” Perry allegedly told the source. “I’m goin down there to hold up a rifle. You come across, you’re gonna lose your life."
"We’re gonna be going against federal agents," Perry allegedly told the source. “I’m not going down there to play with ’em. You know? I’m going down there for business, to show ’em this is our country. You’ve committed treason by allowing these folks in."
Perry told the source he also planned on taking a group of six people to take over Washington D.C. He also reiterated that information in a phone message to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.
The FBI arrived to O'Dell's residence on Friday to execute the search warrant and announced they were there by loudspeaker. Roughly eight or nine rounds were allegedly fired from the front of the house at one of the vehicles. Agents did not shoot back.
Perry came out of the house, but then started walking back to the building before agents arrested him. Perry allegedly took credit for shooting at the agents. O'Dell was found in the building.
Police found a 9 mm hand gun and an AR-15 at the residence. There were no reported injuries.
