Columbia man accused of exposing himself in children’s section of library faces charges

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia man accused of exposing himself in the children's section of a library now faces charges.

The Boone County Prosecutor's Office charged Mark M. Jones Jr. on Friday with two felony counts of sexual misconduct involving a child under 15 years old. Prosecutors also charge Jones with a misdemeanor count of first-degree sexual misconduct.

Police arrested Jones near the Daniel Boone Regional Library Thursday around 10:30 a.m. after officers responded to the library for a report of indecent exposure.

Jones is accused of exposing himself in an area near four women and children. Library staff asked Jones to leave following the reports from guests.

Footage captured by security cameras inside the library shows Jones kneeling with his pants pulled down, according to court documents.

Public court records don't list an attorney for Jones. He could appear at a court hearing scheduled for Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
