Mother charged in infant’s death to appear in court Friday

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Lavosha Daniels is set to appear in court Friday afternoon, after writing a letter to the judge.

Friday's hearing is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at the Boone County Courthouse.

Daniels allegedly wrote to the judge and asked for GPS monitoring or a bond so she could, "get [her] life back together."

Daniels said she would be willing to testify against Staffone R. Fountain, who is charged with first-degree murder in the death of their daughter.

The infant was just four to five months old at the time of her death in 2019.

Daniels faces charges of abandonment of a corpse and child endangerment resulting in the death of a child. Both were allegedly involved while Fountain left the infant behind a Columbia tire store in a backpack in 2019 according to police.

The two were only caught after a letter was turned into Columbia Police in June, allegedly from Daniels, confessing to the crimes. Police say Daniels wrote she "fled because she was scared and didn't know what to do."

It's unclear what will happen in Daniel's hearing on Friday in the Boone County Courthouse.
