JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Capital City High School student was disciplined Thursday after reportedly making threats on social media.

School Principal Ben Meldrum wrote in a letter to school families that local law enforcement got a tip that a student had made threats on social media and began investigating. The student was not in school Thursday and would be subject to "full disciplinary actions," including removal from school, Meldrum wrote.

"We want all of you to know that behaviors and threats made in person or online will not be tolerated at CCHS" Meldrum wrote. "Students found making such threats will be suspended and referred for expulsion and/or police charges."

The reported threats came days after staff at Jefferson City High School received a report of a student on a bus with a weapon. Police found no weapon but found other prohibited items, the district said.
