Passengers stranded for hours in Jefferson City after Greyhound bus breaks down

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

More than a dozen people were stranded in a Texas Roadhouse parking lot for hours after their Greyhound bus broke down.

The bus was traveling from St. Louis to Kansas City. According to Greyhound's bus tracker on its website, the bus departed St. Louis at 11 a.m. and made stops in Fulton, Columbia and Jefferson City.

While in Jefferson City, the bus experienced mechanical issues around 3 p.m. which forced the driver to pull over at the Texas Roadhouse on Ten Mile Drive.

Another shuttle came to pick up the passengers around 8 p.m. The bus driver said that bus was going back to St. Louis instead of to Kansas City.

Several passengers voiced their frustrations.

"I was supposed to have been home at 12:15 p.m. and I have nobody to get me. I mean, I'm tired," Sue Davis said.

Davis said that it was a dangerous situation for her because she ran out of medication while waiting for the second bus to arrive.

"I got high blood pressure and heart disease and my feet are swelling up real bad," Davis said.

An employee at Texas Roadhouse said the restaurant allowed people to use their bathroom and air condition. A restaurant manager also helped the bus driver find a mechanic.

A representative with Greyhound replied to an email asking for comment around 10 p.m.

"Customers were picked up by schedule 7231 and were taken to their next destination. They were also fed prior to the arrival of the relief bus," the representative wrote.

According to the bus tracker, the second bus is slated to arrive in St. Louis around 11:39 p.m.
