CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

An ATV crash at the Lake of the Ozarks Sunday night left a Kansas City area man with serious injuries.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the crash on Bikini Beach Drive near Pyramid Point Lane around 9:40 p.m.

Troopers said Brandon L. Cooke, 29, of Independence, Missouri, hit a tree after the ATV started to skid and left the road. Cooke was thrown from the ATV after he hit the tree, according to the crash report.

Emergency crews flew Cooke by helicopter to Cox South Hospital in Springfield for treatment of his injuries. The health care provider told ABC 17 News on Monday that Cooke is in fair condition.

Troopers said Cooke wasn't wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
