MoDOT to hold public meeting Thursday about future of Interstate 70 in Boone County
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
MoDOT plans to hold a public meeting in Columbia Thursday about possible improvements to Interstate 70 in Boone County.
Officials will meet with the community at the Activities and Recreation Center (ARC) at 1701 W. Ash St. from 4 to 6 p.m.
The department wants the public's feedback about future plans for I-70 and possible changes at the I-70/Highway 63 connector.
The department is in the process of re-evaluating an Environmental Impact Statement that was completed in the mid-2000s. Officials plan to use the study to find possible improvements to I-70.
MoDOT won't make a formal presentation during the meeting, but those who attend will have the chance to review the project and speak with the I-70 study team.
The department is considering changes to an 18-mile stretch of I-70 between near exit 115 at Route BB and east of exit 133 at Route Z.

MoDOT also plans to make changes to the I-70/Highway 63 connector as part of its 2023-2027 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program. The department estimates the project will cost about $140 million.
Because of additional funding, MoDOT says now is the best time to improve the more than 50-year-old interstate.
Anyone who cannot make the meeting can view an online presentation and give feedback through MoDOT's website until the end of July.
