Local groups to hold resource fair in Columbia for veterans

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Several organizations will offer resources and potential job opportunities to veterans in Mid-Missouri Friday afternoon.

The Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture (CCUA) plans to host the resource fair for veterans at the Veterans Urban Farm at 1209 Smith St. in Columbia from 4 to 7 p.m.

The Truman VA Hospital, Disabled American Veterans, Missouri Veterans Commission, The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri, and Welcome Home are expected to offer resources at the fair.

"Day-to-day the Veterans Urban Farm provides therapy to veterans and grows food for donation to veterans," said Veterans Program Manager for CCUA Dustin Cook. "For this event, we're happy we get to bring in our veteran-serving partners and help connect veterans to all of the sources available to them."

Veterans will also have the chance to speak with Veterans United and EquipmentShare about possible job opportunities.

Organizers of the resource fair plan to provide free food and activities for children.
