Police investigate shots fired in northeast Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo (KMIZ)

Columbia Police are investigating a shots fired call that took place Saturday, in Northeast of Columbia on the 2100 block of Whispering Meadows Court. When ABC 17 News crews arrived around 4:15 am they saw at least three police units searching the area and an officer talking to a woman.

After ABC 17 news crews spoke to neighbors, they say they heard at least three gun shots go off and they were scared. One woman who said she wanted to remain anonymous because she is concerned for her safety told ABC 17 News that she is visiting her grandmother who lives on whispering meadows court when the shooting happen.

She said after she heard gun shots, she looked out her grandmother's house front door to see what she says was a man arguing with a neighbor at her car. She said moments later, the man sped off in a vehicle. However, the woman says she doesn't know where shots came from.

The woman who wanted to remain anonymous also told our crews there was a domestic situation between the neighbor and the man earlier. ABC 17 News crews tried to talk to police at scene, however, our crews were told it is an ongoing investigation and a press release will be out at a later time.
