The Boys & Girls Club of Jefferson City announced a new west side location on Monday, June 27, 2022.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.

The Boys and Girls Club of Jefferson City will soon open a new location on the city's west side.

Members of the organization held a press conference Monday morning to announce its New West Side Club location. The site at 1123 Charm Villa Dr. is scheduled to open in August.

The building will take the place of its current location, at the YMCA Annex building.

The group bought the property in late May for an estimated $1.2 million. That includes the price to remodel the building.

The new location will provide positions for eight new employees and 175 daycare spots, according to BGCJC. Members also plan to serve dinner every day once the club opens in August.

The organization says with the additional space, they can continue to grow their current program as well as add new ones.

"One of the things I know on top of my head that we're going to be adding is gardening. We have a gardening program year round in our other location this will allow us to have that program here since we have the additional room to do it," said Wade Middaugh, CEO of Jefferson City Boys and Girls Club.

The official opening day will be in August when school begins.

Estimated annual costs to operate the location are expected to exceed more than $500,000.
