MoDOT to hold public hearing for Highway 63/Grindstone Parkway improvement project

MoDOT plans to hold a public hearing Thursday about the expected improvements to the Highway 63/Grindstone Parkway interchange.

The open house-style meeting is scheduled from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the New Haven Elementary School gymnasium.

Currently, MoDOT is scheduled to award the project in early 2024, with construction expected to end in 2025.

MoDOT estimates the project will cost between $8 to 9 million. The need for improvements to the interchange and surrounding area is due to increased congestion, according to the department.

MoDOT will need to acquire 15 acres for the project. The department expects to release its right of way plans this summer.

Part of the project includes the removal of the commuter parking lot at the southwest corner of the interchange for a new loop ramp. MoDOT is working to find another location for the parking lot, but another area hasn't been identified.

The department also expects the project to improve accessibility to the area for bicyclists and pedestrians.

MoDOT is also running an online hearing for the project that will continue through June 19. Anyone with feedback about the project can leave a comment on MoDOT's website.
