Fulton’s prosecuting attorney issued summons for misdemeanor assault

The prosecuting attorney for Fulton faces a possible misdemeanor charge of assault.

Eric P. Qualls, 33, was arrested by Callaway County Sheriff's Office deputies on Wednesday for fourth-degree assault.

Qualls was booked into the Callaway County Jail just before 9:10 p.m. and released about 40 minutes later, according to the jail's website. Public records show Qualls was issued a summons for the misdemeanor charge.

The Callaway County Sheriff's Office said in a news release that the incident happened at a business in the 100 block of East Fifth Street in Fulton. He turned himself in Wednesday, according to the sheriff's office. The sheriff's office is investigating the case at the request of Fulton's police chief.

The sheriff's office said it would release no other details to protect the investigation.
