CALLAWAY COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested a Ballwin, Missouri man after a crash Tuesday night on Interstate 70 in Callaway County.

The crash happened around 10:50 p.m. in the eastbound lanes near exit 155, according to the crash report.

Troopers said an SUV driven by James E. Mackey, 30, crashed into the median cables after he sideswiped a pickup truck.

Emergency crews took two passengers from the truck, Kyle W. Krueger, 39, and Chad C. Collins, 40, both of St. Louis, to University Hospital in Columbia with minor injuries. MU Health Care told ABC 17 News on Wednesday morning both men had been treated and released.

Krueger and Collins were wearing seat belts, according to the highway patrol.

Troopers said Mackey was arrested on possible charges of DWI persistent offender and operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner that resulted in a crash.

At last check of public court records, prosecutors haven't filed charges against Mackey.
