CMCA held event with the Harlem Wizards to bring awareness for more affordable housing in Jefferson City

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Central Missouri Community Action (CMCA) held an event in Jefferson City Saturday evening with the Harlem Wizards to heighten the awareness around the need for more affordable and safe housing for low-income families in Jefferson City.

The event was held in the Jefferson City High School gymnasium from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday.

The Harlem Wizards will be there to help in fundraising to benefit CMCA housing development in Jefferson City. The Wizards will play CMCA’s own JCYIMBY (Jefferson City Yes! In My Backyard) team.

“We envision an integrated society where every person has access to a safe, affordable home near jobs, services, and opportunity,” says Darin Preis, executive director of Central Missouri Community Action.

"This will be a fun event that we will use to highlight the value that quality affordable housing adds to the community. All proceeds will support new housing development in Jefferson City to address the housing shortage," Preis said.
