One person detained after multiple shots fired in Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Columbia Police Department confirmed Saturday morning multiple shots were fired near Columbia Auto Repair with one person detained in relation to the shooting.

News crews arrived on scene just before 3:45 a.m. to the auto repair shop in the 1900 block of Heriford Rd., to find officers searching the area with flashlights and placing evidence markers.

Officers confirmed that multiple shots were fired, as well as property damage and shell casings being found as a result of the shooting.

The department added it was still unsure if there were any injuries in relation to Saturday morning's shooting.

Crews on scene also observed as officers quickly left the scene on Heriford, to detain a person in relation to the shooting at a nearby intersection, at Eastwood Dr. and Clark Lane.

CPD officers confirmed the scenes on Clark Lane and at the repair shop were connected, as crews on Clark Lane could be seen speaking with one person in handcuffs and searching a car.

The Columbia Police Department said on the scene the investigation remains ongoing as officers are still working to determine if any additional people were involved.
