Local dog rescue to hold microchip clinic in Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Pet owners can get their furry friends microchipped on Sunday for free at an event held by Unchained Melodies Dog Rescue in Columbia.

The clinic is set to run from 10:00 a.m. Sunday until 4:00 p.m. at Unchained Melodies located at 4107 White Tiger Lane.

Families will be limited to one free microchip per household, however, additional microchips can be purchased for $10 per chip.

The clinic is being held in response to clinics and rescue shelters in the area being notified of a recent increase in lost and found animals.

The procedure is very common and easy to preform according to the release, and the process only takes a few seconds to complete.

The microchip will be stored with a unique identification number, linking the pet to the owners contact information and allowing rescue shelters, clinics and veterinarians to scan the chip to locate the information.
