Jefferson City man taken into custody after standoff in Crawford County

STEELVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City man was arrested on Tuesday after a five-hour standoff.

The Crawford County Sheriff's Department responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at Valleyside Road in Steelville just after 7:30 a.m.

According to a release, deputies attempted to make contact with a man but a dog on chain kept the deputy from making contact. The man then walked into the residence and shot through a window at the deputy.

Officials report a standoff ensued before the man left the residence and was taken into custody.

The man was taken to the Crawford County Adult Detention Center pending charges.
