Firefighters putting out fire in east Columbia
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Columbia Fire Department put out a fire that started in the basement of a duplex on the 5300 block of Godas Circle in the eastern part of the city.
Columbia Fire Department Capt. Tracy Gray says crews responded at 1:30 p.m. and arrived in three minutes to find smoke coming out the backside of the residence in the basement.
Gray reports the fire spread through the basement to the next level before a second hose line was sent in to stop the spread of the fire.

A Columbia fire marshal was called to the scene to perform a cause and origin investigation and found an unattended heat lamp ignited nearby combustible items. Damage to the duplex is estimated at $135,000.
Officials say the gas line into the house caught fire but Ameren shut off the gas line to the residence.
Gray reports eight trucks responded to the fire and no one was hurt.
