One person shot in northeast Columbia after reported burglary

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

UPDATE: Around 3:15 a.m. on Sunday, Columbia Police responded to a report of a burglary with a weapon in the 1300 block of Godas Drive.

Columbia Police say at the scene they found a 22-year-old man who had been shot in the leg. He was taken to the hospital for his injuries.

Police said there were no other injuries reported during the incident and there is no suspect information in the case.

ORIGINAL STORY: One person was transported to a local hospital following a shooting on Godas Drive in northeast Columbia after officers responded to a shots fired call a little after 3 a.m. on Sunday.

Once on scene, police confirmed to ABC 17 News that shots were fired, and police found one victim along with evidence such as shell casings.

EMS and Columbia police were also seen loading the victim onto a stretcher and into an ambulance.

News crews on scene could see officers searching the area around Godas with flashlights, speaking with neighbors and using police dogs.

Police said no one had been taken into custody in relation to Sunday morning's shooting.

Around 15 Columbia Police Department cars could be seen on the scene, joined by Columbia Fire, MU Health Care and Boone County Sheriffs.
