Former Jefferson City star earns SEC freshman of the week honors

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou softball standout Kara Daly is the SEC freshman of the week after hitting four home runs in three days over the weekend in the Mizzou Tournament.

The former Jefferson City star has hit a home run in every home game to start her MU career. She was 7-for-11 with nine RBI this past weekend. The Tigers went 4-0 with two wins each over St. Thomas and Bradley. Mizzou is now 16-4 on the season.

Daly was a multi-sport athlete at Jefferson City High School. Extra Innings softball ranked her the 54th best softball prospect in the nation coming out of high school.

No. 8 Mizzou will open up SEC play with a three-game home series against No. 17 Tennessee starting on Friday at 5 p.m.
