Ballwin teenager killed after crash on Interstate 70 in Callaway County

CALLAWAY COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Ballwin, Missouri teenager was killed early on Friday morning after a crash on Interstate 70 in Callaway County.

The crash happened just before 1 a.m. in the westbound lanes of traffic near the 137 mile-marker, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said Justin A. Tognozzi, 18, lost control of his car on the ice-covered interstate and hit the back of a semi-truck that was stopped for a different crash.

Emergency crews at the scene pronounced Tognozzi dead just after 1:30 a.m. Troopers said the driver of the semi-truck wasn't hurt.

Tognozzi was wearing a seat belt, according to the crash report.
