COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Mizzou football player Stacy Brown is suspended from the team following his arrest early Monday morning.
According to MUPD, an officer stopped Brown for a traffic violation near the intersection of Rock Quarry Road and Rolling Rock Road at 1:09 a.m. on Monday. He was allegedly going 16-to-19 miles per hour over the speed limit.
Following the stop, MUPD arrested Brown on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm and speeding.
Brown was taken to Boone County jail, and his bond was set at $13,000.
"We're aware of the situation involving Stacy Brown," Head coach Eli Drinkwitz said in a release on Tuesday. "He is suspended, per athletics department policy. We'll continue to gather information and determine the best course of action."
This comes just a few days before spring camp is set to begin on Friday. Brown is a rising senior on the Tigers defense. He played in eight games last season, totaling nine tackles.
