Jefferson City man accused of deadly shooting arrested in St. Louis for different shooting while out on bond
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Jefferson City man accused of a deadly shooting in August 2018 out on bond was arrested this week in St. Louis for another shooting.
The St. Louis Police Department says Alfred Chism Jr. was arrested on Tuesday for domestic assault and armed criminal action.
According to the Cole County Prosecutor's Office, police arrested Alfred Chism Jr. for a different shooting on Tuesday. Public records show Chism was booked into the St. Louis Justice Center shortly before 5:50 p.m.
More details about the shooting weren't immediately available.
Prosecutors charge Chism in Cole County with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the shooting death of 23-year-old Charon Session. Session was shot and killed at a home in the 900 block of Tanya Lynn Drive on Aug. 27, 2018.
Chism allegedly admitted to the murder and says he shot Session in self-defense after Session harassed him for days prior.
Cole County Prosecutor Locke Thompson who was not the prosecuting attorney at the time of the murder says that there are a number of factors judges have to consider when it comes to bond.
"Nature of the offense charged, their criminal history, whether or not they have a job, whether they have a history for failing to appear in court," Thompson said.
Chism has been out on bond since 2018 after a Cole County judge ordered him to be supervised by pretrial services. Pre-trial services allow those awaiting trial to be out on certain conditions.
Thompson says, "Electronic monitoring, there is always some kind of check-in requirement whether that's over the phone or in-person, and several other conditions that may apply, random drug testing those kinds of things."
The Cole County prosecutor filed a motion to revoke his bond on Wednesday.
The trial for the first-degree murder charge is set to being on March 15th.
A court hearing in Cole County is scheduled for Chism at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28.
