Tracking a big temperature slide into the weekend

TONIGHT

After another mild day, temperatures will slide further below freezing tonight with more wind out of the north. Still, winds should relax a bit overnight.

THURSDAY

High pressure brings some colder air, along with more northerly wind in for Thursday morning. Winds will try to adjust more southwesterly into the afternoon. This will be the saving grace temperature wise. We likely remain in the 40's for highs.

EXTENDED

Winds will stay put in that southwestern flow. This will set us up to bring back close to the 50’s one more time this week on Friday where a cold front will be inching closer. As it approaches, a few showers will be possible Friday morning, but those won’t keep us from topping out near 50 degrees. The punch with this front largely arrives Friday night into Saturday, dropping highs into the 20's. It’s short-lived, however, as temperatures thaw out on Sunday into the middle 40’s. We’ll hang on to the 40’s and dry weather on Valentine’s Day before warming back up by the middle of next week. A pattern change will start to take place, giving us better chances for precipitation by next Wednesday.
