Parking on streets allowed again in Columbia
The City of Columbia lifted parking restrictions on priority snow routes on Friday afternoon after a snowstorm dumped about 10 inches on the city over two days this week.
Parking on those routes is banned when snow accumulation reaches 2 inches or more. Parking is allowed again after snowplows have cleared the routes enough for traffic to move easily. Those who violate the ban can be ticketed or towed.
All lanes reopen on I-70 in Montgomery County
Interstate 70 at High Hill in Montgomery County fully reopened at about 11 a.m.
The westbound lanes opened up first, followed by the eastbound lanes about half an hour later.
A traffic camera showed a tow truck working to remove a trailer from the eastbound lanes just before they were reopened.
The area has been a problem spot during this week's snowstorm, with multiple reports of jackknifed tractor-trailers that have blocked traffic over the past few days.
Crash closes Highway 54 in Callaway County
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Friday morning that Highway 54 westbound was blocked in Callaway County.
The patrol tweeted at about 10 a.m. that the road was blocked because of a jackknifed tractor-trailer between Center Street and South Summit Drive in the Jefferson City area. The Missouri Department of Transportation traveler map says delays might last an hour.
All state roads remained covered or partially covered with snow after a snowstorm that dumped as much as 10 inches on Central Missouri. Sunshine on Friday is expected to help melt some snow and ice on the roads but overnight temperatures are expected to drop back into the single digits, causing refreezing and compromising the efficacy of snow-melting agents.
The patrol's Troop F said shortly after 10 a.m. that troopers had been sent to 43 calls with 26 stranded drivers, four crashes and no injuries since midnight.
Traffic routed around I-70 problem spot in Montgomery County
The Missouri State Highway Patrol rerouted traffic Friday morning around a closed stretch of eastbound Interstate 70 near New Florence in Montgomery County.
Troopers said no one was hurt after three semi-trucks crashed in the eastbound lanes near the 180-mile marker around 6:50 a.m. A Missouri Department of Transportation traffic camera showed tractor-trailers blocking the road.
