COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou men's basketball team came up just short against No. 1 Auburn on Tuesday night. The Tigers lost 55-54 to fall to 8-11 overall and 2-5 in the SEC.

Javon Pickett led the Tigers with 17 points. In the final minute of the game, he hit a three-pointer to make it 55-54. Ultimately, Auburn was able to hang on for the one-point win.

Auburn out-rebounded MU 48-38, including 25-10 on the offensive glass.

K.D. Johnson led Aubun with 17 points. MU held potential NBA first overall selection Jabari Smith to just 5 points on 2-of-15 shooting.

Up next - Mizzou will play at Iowa State in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge on Saturday at 1 p.m.
