Insider Blog: Inside the new and improved ABC 17 Stormtracker

The ABC 17 Stormtracker is newly updated.

We've equipped it with a suite of new features to help us better track and alert you to severe weather of all kinds. You may even see us use this to cover breaking news. All of it will be to keep the community informed, and safe.

On top of the Stormtracker is the new ABC 17 Stormtracker 360 Camera.  It's a high definition pan, tilt, and zoom camera. It's equipped with led lights and infrared technology to allow us to continue our jobs at night. Thanks to a wiper blade on the camera itself, you'll see a clear picture regardless of what we're tracking.

Inside the Stormtracker, we have full control of our new camera, and the broadcast you see at home.

Accessible to the meteorologist or reporter in the passenger seat, is a control board. Not only will they be able to operate the camera, but they'll control what they show you.

They can show you a full picture of the road, or they can share what's happening outside of the car, while also talking directly to you via this camera mounted inside the cabin.

Ultimately, our ABC 17 Stormtracker 360 Camera is a tool we have to better serve you, the viewer. So, if you know of something we should see through our new lens, be sure to let us know here.
