Gary Pinkel to be inducted into College Football Hall of Fame

COLUMBA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Longtime Mizzou football coach Gary Pinkel is headed to the College Football Hall of Fame. The 2022 class was announced on Monday afternoon on ESPN.

Pinkel is one of three coaches in the 2022 Hall of Fame class. 18 players will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as well. The ceremony will be held on Dec. 6, 2022.

Pinkel is the all-time winningest head football coach at Mizzou and Toledo.

The Ohio native coached the Tigers from 2001-15. He led MU to a 118-73 record - including five division championships. Pinkel's Tigers made it to ten bowl games during his tenure. He's now the sixth Mizzou coach to make it into the College Football Hall of Fame.

At Toledo - Pinkel led his team to a 73-37-3 record in 10 years with the program. He's the first Toledo head coach to ever make it into the College Football Hall of Fame.

Pinkel is already a member of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame and the MAC Hall of Fame.
