Whiteman Air Force Base canceled Tuesday the 2022 Wings over Whiteman Air and Space Show.

The event was canceled because of "competing mission priorities," according to a press release from the military base. Whiteman Air Force Base planned to hold the air show in June.

"This decision was not made lightly, as we know many of our service members, their families, and surrounding communities look forward to such an exciting event," 509th Bomb Wing Commander Col. Daniel Diehl said in the release.

The military base is planning to hold the air show in 2024.

"We plan to devote the next few years to creating the best possible airshow experience for all participants and visitors in 2024," said Col Diehl.

Whiteman Air Force Base plans to share more information and updates about the 2024 air show on Facebook.

The event was also canceled in 2020.
