A report on road conditions around Columbia at 5 p.m.

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Winter weather is affecting Mid-Missouri with covered roads, church closings, power outages and flight cancelations.

Church closings

Road Conditions

Boone County Joint Communications is reporting several vehicles have slid off the road at mile marker 133 on Interstate 70 westbound near Route Z.

Missouri Department of Transportation is reporting several roads are beginning to be covered by ice or snow, according to the travel map.

MoDOT is reporting Highway 63 is covered from Brown Station Road north to Highway 22 due to winter weather. From Highway 22 intersection on Highway 63 north to Moberly is covered.

According to the map, Interstate 70 is covered to mile marker 137. Highway 24 from Marshall to Glasgow is covered. On Highway 5, north of Glasgow is covered according to the map.

MoDOT is reporting Highway 5 from New Franklin to Fayette and Highway 240 from Fayette to Highway 40 are covered now at 10:50 a.m.

Power Outages

Central Missouri Electric Coop is reporting 173 customers are currently without power in Saline County and 361 customers in Pettis County.

MSHP Crashes and Arrests

At last check, Missouri State Highway Patrol is reporting there were at least 39 crashes reported and 116 arrests reported since the counting period began on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Airlines

Columbia Regional Airport is reporting several flights have been canceled.

American Airlines

  • Arrivals from Dallas (12:10 p.m.), Dallas (6:41 p.m.) and Chicago (7:22 p.m.) have been canceled
  • Departure to Chicago (8:20 a.m.) and Dallas (7:11 p.m.) was canceled

United Airlines

  • Arrivals from Chicago (10:55 p.m.) has been canceled
  • Departure to Dallas (12:40 p.m.) was canceled

An American Airlines flight remain scheduled for arrival from Dallas at 10:55 p.m.

Columbia Regional Airport Manager Mike Parks reports runways are wet only and maintenance is monitoring conditions.
