Jefferson City honors the late Ron Coleman

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Jefferson City retired Mizzou Hall of Famer Ron Coleman's No. 34 before its game against Covington on Monday. Coleman passed away on Christmas Eve after battling ALS. He was 76 years old.

Coleman led the MU basketball team in scoring in 1966 and 1967. He also lettered in baseball. In 2002, Coleman was was inducted into the MU Hall of Fame.

The former Tiger standout had a long and successful professional career as well. He was the head coach at Vashon High School and Saint Louis University. In 1980, Coleman came back to Jefferson City to take over as the men's basketball coach and athletic director at Lincoln University. He held those positions until 1991.
