Two hurt after crash on Highway 54 near Mexico

AUDRAIN COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A two-vehicle crash on westbound Highway 54 south of Mexico, Missouri left two people hurt on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Siri N. Wagner, 29, of Jefferson City, drove a car into the back of a box truck that was slowing down to make a turn around 1 p.m.

An ambulance took Wagner to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries. An MU Health Care spokesman told ABC 17 News Wagner is in fair condition.

Troopers said the driver of the box truck, Michael W. Metz, 50, of Jefferson City, was taken by private vehicle to a hospital for minor injuries.

According to the crash report, Wagner and Metz were both wearing seat belts.
