Missouri beverage distributor to offer free Lyft ride credits for Thanksgiving Eve

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Major Brands plans to partner with Lyft to offer Missourians a free ride home over the Thanksgiving holiday.

The beverage distributor and ride-sharing service plan to give out 3,300 free rides home to people across Missouri. The night before Thanksgiving is a popular night for people to go out to drink.

Customers in Columbia, Kansas City, St. Louis, and Springfield can redeem the free rides from Lyft on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 2 a.m.

A limited number of $25 ride credits are available on Major Brands' website and its Facebook or Instagram pages.

In a press release, the company said, "Offering 10,000 free rides home throughout the holidays is Major Brands’ way of saying Happy Holidays and thank you to Missourians. Our holiday wish is for people to make planning a safe ride home ahead of time a habit."

Major Brands also plans to offer Missourians free rides home on New Year's Eve.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported troopers made 100 arrests for DWIs during its 2020 Thanksgiving holiday counting period.

This year's counting period starts Wednesday at 6 p.m. The holiday counting period is scheduled to end Sunday at 11:59 p.m.
