Highway patrol arrests driver after head-on crash south of Columbia

BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A man could face charges after another man was hurt in a head-on crash south of Columbia on Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened just after 12:50 p.m. on Highway 163 west of Tom Bass Road, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said a car driven by Jacob T. Noel, 34, of Ashland, hit a pickup truck head-on after his car crossed the center of the highway.

The highway patrol told ABC 17 News Wednesday morning troopers arrested Noel for DWI that resulted in serious injury after he ran from the crash.

Troopers said Noel was found near the scene.

According to the crash report, the driver of the truck, Carl E. Heuer, 81, of Clark, Missouri, was taken by ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries.

Troopers said Heuer wasn't wearing a seat belt.

Noel was also taken to the hospital with moderate injuries. He was wearing a seat belt, according to the crash report.
